Why Exploring the Netherlands?

Although Amsterdam is one of the most visited cities in the world fighting with heavy signs of overtourism, the Netherlands with its many faces remains under-explored and underrated.

Exploring the Netherlands will take you on a journey from the far north of the country, where they say ‘er gaat niets boven Groningen‘ (‘there is nothing above Groningen’) to the Dutch ‘mountains’ in the south (okey, let’s be honest they are only hills); from Oosterscheldekering, the last barrier of the North Sea in the west, to the Achterhook, the rear-end of the Netherlands in the east.

My name is Daniela and I call the Netherlands my second home. Although I consider myself already a local, living here since 2009, I know the country from a traveller’s perspective, too. So, on Exploring the Netherlands I’ll be giving you tips that only locals know and at the same time I’ll be addressing questions only travellers have.
